To help spiritually
lost people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 16:18,Matthew 28:18-20).
The
Vision
Through us, God will
plant, grow, and mature a church that will reach lost people other
churches are not reaching with the good news of salvation and a new
start in Jesus Christ. People will build relationships with people
from Newstart and say, “Because of the love I see in their life, I
want what they have!” A church where:
spiritually
lost people matter not only to God but also to the church
hundreds
upon hundreds of people will find a new start in Jesus Christ
the
only thing that makes people uncomfortable is the truth of God and
the conviction of the Holy Spirit
believers
will discover their spiritual gifts, use them, and make an eternal
difference in the lives of other people
believers
love, encourage, admonish, share with, forgive, and have
compassion with one another
our
children will be spiritually saved, baptized, and discipled
our
grand children will be married grow in their faith and live lives
that glorify God
generations
of lost people will find Christ because of our willingness and
ability to change the methods by which we proclaim the never
changing message of God’s salvation through faith in Jesus
Christ’s death on the cross
Core
Values
There are many values
that we hold onto that are not mentioned in this category of “core
values”. There are also many values we hold that fall into the
category of one of our core values. For example, participating in
baptism is a value we hold that is not mentioned as a core value
because it falls under “Biblical Integrity”. The purpose of stating
core values is to make clear the values that we hold so strongly
they will shape the personality of our collective community and
provide a blueprint for the types of ministries we build.
·Holistic
Disciple Making: Evangelizing, converting, maturing, and
reproducing followers of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20)
·Biblical
Integrity with Cultural Relevance: We will produce Biblically
true ministries with culturally relevant methods, prompting -
personal and corporate - faith, holiness, and service. As our
community changes we will continually change the methods by which we
proclaim the never changing message of the gospel. (Acts
2:42, Romans 12:1-2)
·Prayer: A
commitment to intercession and spiritual warfare. We believe that God can
and will do the miraculous according to His will. He will rescue,
empower, provide, and move in response to our faithfulness in
prayer. (1 Kings 19:36-37, Matthew 6:5-15)
·Unity - of Purpose and People: It will be
essential for all who join us to unite in our purpose. We will
minister to people of any race or economic status and will
purposefully grow a church that reflects the mix of people that we
have in our community. (Philippians 2:1-5, John 17:11, 1 Corinthians
1:10, Colossians 3:11, Romans 15:5-7)
·Laity Led
Ministries: We will
generate lay ownership of ministry by equipping Christians
and rendering opportunities for them to use their spiritual gifts to
be the priesthood of believers God has called them to be. (Acts
2:46-47, Acts 20:20, Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Peter 2:5,9).
·Local to Global Missions: We will promote,
educate, raise funds for and participate in missions. We recognize
that we are blessed greatly with gifts from God, and we will be
faithful stewards of the gifts we have received by sharing them with
people in need and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a local
to global level. (Acts 1:8)
·Community – We
will glorify God through living out his purpose for our lives in the
context of community. (The one another’s of the NT presuppose
community) Ephesians 2:19, Acts
2:42-47)
