Package a nutritious, rice-based food that is served to the hungry in Haiti, where starvation and malnutrition are rampant!
November 3rd at 2pm
Newstart Church - Gym 1
how does it work?
Participants work together at stations to package the rice-based food. One participant can package 300 meals in 2 hours!
1. Funnel station: Five participants gather around a funnel to fill the bags with rice, soy, dried vegetables and vitamins.
2. Weigh station: The bags are weighed to make sure they contain a specified weight for uniform distribution.
3. Sealing station: The bags are sealed. This gives the food a three year shelf life, though the food will be eaten long before then!
4. Boxing station: Sealed bags are boxed, palletized, and then loaded onto a truck or container for their final voyage overseas.
Finally, the boxes are shipped by cargo ship to Haiti. Once released from Haitian customs, the boxes are unloaded into Lifeline’s warehouse. They are distributed to Lifeline’s schools & nutritious programs and to mission organizations to be prepared for the hungry!
