Feb. 18 - Passion

God has given each of us a special set of skills and passions that he wants us to use for the good of His kingdom. If you feel the Lord pulling at your heart for something, pursue it! Whether God has given you a strong passion for evangelizing, cooking, boxing, scuba diving, or whatever it may be, He wants us to be willing to arrange our lives around that drive and use it for His good.

Romans 12:11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor.

Keeping our spiritual fervor can be difficult at time. Greg warns about the things that may kill the passion in us, such as:

  • A lack of purpose or priorities

  • The Get-more Do-more lifestyle that our culture lures us to indulge in

  • Habitual sin

  • Unresolved conflict

Take a good look at yourself and determine what passions God has given you. Some of us know without a doubt what those are, but for others, it may be unclear, possibly buried beneath layers of passion-killers. Assess what those passions are and determine if there are passion-killers that need to be addressed in your life.

1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Although it is your heart that God has planted that seed of passion in, He hasn’t given it only to you. His intention is that you will use it to benefit the church as a whole. The passion that Greg has for serving communities in third world countries has expanded over the years so that it has touched the lives of hundreds of Christians here in the United States and countless others overseas. This is what the Lord wants. No matter how insignificant or unimportant you may feel, know that God sees you as so much more. He has given you a gift that you can use to heal others and bring them to Christ.
