Jul. 1 - I am a Missionary, Part 2
Last week, Greg began a series entitled, “I am a Missionary” and he explained that each of us is called to be a missionary for God no matter where we are geographically. He reminded us that being a missionary isn’t about being in a specific location, but about being intentional wherever you are.
This week he broadened his scope and said it also doesn’t matter where we are spiritually if we are to be missionaries. Many of us feel we haven’t followed Christ long enough to share his Word with others. Maybe your reason is “That’s a job for the church leaders, not for me,” or “I wouldn’t know how to have that conversation,” or even, “I’m not spiritually mature enough.”
Don’t let those fears win! Being a missionary isn’t a spiritual maturity issue. It is something that starts immediately when you realize what God has done for you. Certainly you will become more fluent as you become more spiritually mature, but it isn’t a requirement to simply show hospitality, love, and compassion to others, or to tell them about the wonderful things God has done in your life.
1 Thessalonians 2:8 Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.
Don’t allow your insecurities and excuses prevent you from sharing the Good News with the people God has placed in your path. Love them enough to enter their lives and be a missionary for God!
